A Week of Many Theaters…

Ok, I got a laxed on posting this week.  There was a lot going on!  Backing up to Thursday.  Thursday night I finally went to see Eclipse with Jen.
I know there’s a lot of hype about the books and movies, but seriously, the books really did live up to the hype for me once I dove in.  I love to read and many of many of favorite books are well respected reads like The Kite Runner, The Time Traveler’s Wife, Memoirs of the Geisha, The Joy Luck Club, A Widow For One Year, etc…  So I don’t think of myself as a person that will just read anything.  I’m not a huge fan of chic lit, although once in a while I’ll throw in something of that nature to mix things up.  Anyway, Twilight was recommended to me and I read it, and actually really liked it.  It wasn’t til I got to the end of New Moon that I really was sucked in though, and had to literally drive to a book store and buy Eclipse within an hour of putting down New Moon so that I could find out what happened next.  I read the last three books in less than a week (there was a gap in between Twilight and New Moon) and I think they are all about 1,000 pages each.  I just think it’s a really interesting, well told, creative story.  The writing isn’t going to win any Pulitzer’s or anything, it definitely seems to be written for a younger audience, but I just still enjoyed the story.  Also, for some reason, love triangles get me every time- The Notebook, Cast Away, etc…  Eclipse was my favorite of the books because of the end of the book where everything comes to a head and Bella has to make her choice between Edward and Jacob.
I thought the movie was good.  Most things were as I remembered them.  I love Robert Pattinson…so HOT!  I think he looked a little overly made up in this one, but still pretty smokin’.
Anyhoo, Thursday night before bed, I decided to finally try something that many healthy living bloggers swear by for breakfast.  I made a batch of overnight oats for the first time.  I had a jar of crunchy PB down to it’s last bits, so I mixed it up in there.
The night before I put in around 1/3 cup of oats, a scoop of greek yogurt, 1/3 cup skim milk, a splash of vanilla soy milk, and some chia seeds.
.

It ended up being a good thing I made this the night before because I actually overslept yesterday and it was really nice to have a basically premade breakfast ready.  I just added a sliced banana and some walnuts.

So my verdict?  I actually liked it!  I was surprised.  I have been saying for a while that the whole idea sounded kind of gross to me.  I don’t like it when I’m eating oatmeal and it gets cold, so I really couldn’t wrap my head around the idea of eating cold oats, but I think the reason it works is because you actually really don’t taste the oats, it’s more like a really thick/chewy-ish yogurt with stuff mixed in.  It’s really not bad.  I’d do it again!  I also loved how convenient it was for getting ready in the morning.
Friday night after work I went home to play with Clyde and have dinner.  I was in kind of a weird food mood, so this is what I made:
Fried egg cooked in my cute egg pan my dad got me…
I put the egg on a piece of whole grain toast, with grilled zucchini on the side.  MMM 🙂

After dinner, I went to the other kind of theater.  I went to Central Peidmont Community College for their production of Barefoot in The Park.  My friends Sarah and Nicole wanted to go, and I like seeing a play every once in a while.

(hey, my barefoot made it into the shot!)
The play was cute.  It’s about newly weds their first week or two of marriage in their new apartment.  The only thing was that I was TIRED, and had to chew gum to stay awake for the second half.  I was fading!  I liked the play though 🙂

That is a cute little egg pan 🙂 did it really save you that much time, I’m curious!!!

Also, I’m still super curious about OIAJ. I’ve never tried it. But I like PB in my oats, so why not eat it out of a PB container?? haha.

@Monique, The egg pan doesn’t really save time, it’s just convenient if you only want to cook one egg and less work to clean than a bigger pan 😉
You shouuld give the OAIJ a try. It really was better than I thought it would be, and didn’t taste like soggy oats. More like thick yogurt…
